Keeping It Simple for Small Businesses
What Will I Say? Overcoming Email Newsletter Writer’s Block
Email newsletters can be a great way to keep in touch with a large group of people. I often hear (as a reason for not doing them), “I don’t have that much to say” or “there’s not that much new in my business.” Well, the newsletter doesn’t have to be all about you! And, the new protocol for newsletters is to keep them short (less than 300 words).
- Here are some ideas to encourage your readers to look forward to your next newsletter:
- Provide an updates about your products/services
- Review important changes in your industry (e.g., new laws)
- Introduce Special offers for your customers (and newsletter readers)
- Answer a commonly asked question
- report on a new service that you’ve learned about
- highlight a client’s business
- feature a business associate and his/her business
- review an interesting book you’ve read
- provide information on upcoming events
- if your contacts are primarily local, report on new restaurants or services in your area
- include links to interesting websites and/or blogs
