• Log in to your Facebook personal page.

If you don’t have a personal page, go to Facebook.com and follow the simple instructions to set up your account. Pay careful attention to the Privacy settings (under Account). It’s best to set them to be very restrictive. Add some friends (and your friends will find you).

Note: You can set up a business page without creating a personal page, but having some friends can help to jump start your fan base. Also, with your personal page, you can “like” businesses and see how various businesses use Facebook.

  • Go to the business page for Let Leslie Do It.
  • Scroll down the left column to the bottom and click on “Create a Page for My Business.”
  • On the next page, select a category for your business and a name for your page.
  • Click “Create Page” and you’re on your way.
  • Start filling in information about your business including your website, contact info, and a brief description (be sure to include your website in the description).
  • Add some photos and/or video.
  • Put in a Status Update. It could be just a “welcome” to my business page message.
  • Click on Edit page (under profile photo) to take you to the Admin screen.
  • Under Wall Settings, click on “Fan Permissions.” Allow fans to post to your wall (unless you are very concerned about inappropriate posts).
  • Once you have the page looking pretty good, use the “Suggest to Friends” (under the profile photo) feature to ask your friends to become fans.

For some examples of pages that include good information and don’t require any special technical skill, go to my Business Page and look at the left column for “Favorites.”
