Keeping It Simple for Small Businesses
Email Marketing
- Keep current clients informed of your services
- Present your business to potential customers
- Showcase your expertise
- Maintain regular contact between groups
I started an email “Friends and Family” newsletter several years ago that has connected me to many people. Now, everyone waits excitedly for the next month’s update! I’m keeping in touch with a lot of people with much less work (and probably more valuable content) than if I tried to maintain email contact with even a fraction of them! I’ve developed newsletter formats for numerous clients. Some of them have been trained and maintain their own programs. For others, they provide basic content and I manage the regular preparation and distribution of their newsletters and other email announcements.
You can set up an email marketing program for $15/month (up to 500 names on list). An email list of up to 25,000 names is only $150/month! Considering the cost of even third class postage – and the expense of creating direct mail – email marketing is a terrific bargain.
Web based services allow you to create very professional emails without any special technical knowledge. They provide “stock” images (or use your own). You can link to external web sites (and you should). The “list” management features allow you to capture data about your contacts. You can create multiple lists for different groups of contacts. And, there is excellent reporting for tracking of your email marketing efforts.
I highly recommend Constant Contact as an email marketing service: Click here for a free 60-day trial!
